Today’s Word On 13 March 2021 Joel Osteen Today Daily Devotional
After David was anointed to be the next king of Israel, instead of going to the palace, he went back to the shepherds fields. He was overlooked and mistreated by his family. Later, King Saul became jealous of David and tried to kill him. David had to live on the run, hiding in caves and the desert. But David’s attitude was, I am not quitting. I’m going to become who God says I am.
One reason David took the throne is that he wanted it badly enough. How badly do you want what God put in your heart? Badly enough to outlast your critics, to overlook some insults, to do the right thing when the wrong thing is happening, to keep pursuing when all the circumstances say it’s not going to happen? You have to have a holy determination. It’s a fire inside, a passion, knowing that it’s supposed to be yours. When everything says it’s not going to happen, you kick into a new gear. You want it on another level.
Prayer for Today: Father, thank You for the dreams You put in my heart and the promises You’ve spoken to me. Thank You that You put greatness in my heart, and I can stir up the fire inside. I declare that I am not going to settle for less than what You put in my heart. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Raised in Houston, Texas, with a loving family of seven and world-renowned parents in full-time ministry, Joel Osteen never imagined that he would follow so closely in his father’s footsteps. His father always encouraged him to preach, but Joel would politely decline time and time again until one day in October 1999 when his father was admitted to the hospital with kidney complications. Joel finally agreed to preach the next Sunday, and his father passed the following week. Joel’s first sermon was the last his father ever heard. Joel and his wife, Victoria, were suddenly thrust into full-time leadership of Lakewood Church.
